Text

To create a consistent campus wide policy for defining Emphases, Concentrations, and Options, the following definitions will be used and followed:

  • Emphasis: An emphasis is a set of courses defined by a major and required for degree completion. Emphases are 12 units or more.
  • Concentration: A concentration is a set of courses defined by a major and required for degree completion. Concentrations are less than 12 units.
  • Option: An option is a set of courses defined by the major and may be of any unit size. An option is not a requirement for degree completion.
